Today I finally made it back to work. I feel better but not great. Plus, Melissa already has two babies at home that she has to help. I am feeling a ton of pressure in my nose and in my ears.
I am not planning on running again today just to help my body heal up. There is also supposed to be a huge snow storm today so that would be more of a reason for me not to go out.
It is really tough on me not being able to run. I feel as though I am letting Rob down by not doing my training, but I know that he understands. Again, I am just worried about my ability to catch up on the miles tha I have missed already. I know that the end of May is a long way off, but I really am worried about getting behind.
This is not a good way to start, but remember, it is not how you start, but how you finish.

1/30 sick day part two
I'm sick from work again today. Last night I didn't sleep well at all. I did my sub plans at 4 in the morning. I don't feel good at all. I am really congested and have a headache again. At times the Tylenol and Advil work, but they have not been consistent. I want to get out and run, but don't think I could make it to the end of the block before I feel dizzy. Also, it's freezing out again with plenty of snow to get in the way.

Sick Day 1/29
I stayed home from school today because I thought I had strep. I ended up having to go to the doctor. She just recommended me to take Advil and Tylenol. I thought I might have gotten sick from my Sunday morning jog, but Karla (my doctor) said that it probably didn't have anything to do with it.
It is difficult for me to stand let alone run, I am hoping to be feeling better tomorrow and to be able to get my three miles in on Thursday with only having to take one day off. This is difficult getting behind and I don't want it to get out of hand with too many miles to make up.

About me
I am planning on writing my daily journal of what I do in preparation for my marathon. As I was doing my run today, I decided that it would be cool to have a written document of what I go through each day getting ready for the big day. First, let me tell you a little about myself.
I am a 26 year old married man. My wife's name is Melissa. I have twin girls named Hannah and Madeline that were born in October 2007. I teach 5th grade and I love my class. Life is really crazy right now with the twins but I need to have something to get away. That's why training for a marathon is something I want to do to have something different.
I know, there are tons of other things that I could do to get away, but I only can commit time when the girls aren't awake. That leaves me with the time I have before I go to school each day.
Rob is my friend from school that asked me to run a marathon with him and I am excited about it. After talking with Rob today I think we are going to run the Sunburst Marathon in Fort Wayne, IN. It sounds like a cool finish running to the 50 yard line at the stadium in Notre Dame.
Running stinks! It's boring, it's lonely, it makes my body hurt, I have to get up in the morning much earlier than I want to, but in the end, it's good for me and I want to commit to this goal. I know running will help keep my health up. Matt did a great job showing me that last year getting me to commit to running the half marathon.
Thanks Matt for getting me interested in running. I would definitely not be doing this without you.

First Entry/January 27th
Today was a really cold day. I don't know how to describe it but let's just say I checked the weather channel before I left and it was 3°.
I started off my run without stretching or drinking any water. Looking back, that wasn't the best way to start off, but it didn't get me down during my run and I made it the whole way.
I had routes known from the summer to know how far things were so I just started running with a mileage goal and just counted my blocks as I went around. I wanted to run by the Fordham house (the house that I grew up in) but just didn't want to get too far away from home. I didn't know if I was going to break down and need to head right home for any reason.
As I was running today, my mind was wandering. I don't have an MP3 player or anything to entertain me while I am out running. As I run, I think. During my time of thinking I thought of my friend Jay from church and prayed for him. He's my prayer partner in our small group and I knew he had some things he wanted prayer for. I prayed for him and for our small group.
The funniest thing that happened today was that I was running, I checked over my shoulder to see if anything was behind me and saw stalagmites growing on my shoulder from the sweat rising off my body. I was sad to go inside at the end of the run knowing that they would melt and wouldn't come back until the next time I ran in 3° weather.
